Back Yard Nature Study: Black Swallowtail

We we sticking to doing nature study in the yard this week, even painting in the driveway. We were blessed to find a black swallowtail butterfly hanging out. We got out the magnifying glasses and our journaling materials and painted our observations. We then went to the butterfly website to check out the black swallowtail caterpillar and find out some more information on our new favorite butterfly.

Ha! We've been finding them in our backyard and taking pictures like mad. We found a caterpillar the other day too and he's in our tank now and we're having fun watching!

What a beautiful butterfly. I am impressed with Big Snails rendition of the butterfly. Thanks for joining up with the Nature Explorers Club!

Before you take my images, you'd better ask me first. I request that if, and when, you use my information and pictures, you provide proper credit and citation. A link back to my blog is nice, too. I love to give permission to really nice people. In fact, I have never said no. If you steal anything from my site, I get to be mean to you. Really mean. And I am smart enough to catch you being sneaky, too.
