Handmade Mother's Day Brooch

I found this genius tutorial from Roots And Wings Co. and thought it would make the most wonderful Mother's Day present for The Snail's Great-Grandmother.

First, Big Snail drew a flower. I love the happy face...I hope all of his flowers always smile.

Then I sewed his drawing directly onto the felt. I only had craft felt so I used a double thickness on each layer. I added green ribbon and hand embroidered their names onto each "stem."

Visit Roots And Wings Co. for some great crafty inspiration! It is one of my favorite blogs.

I LOVE IT!! I really like to see when people use my ideas for something of their own. I think your flower turned out adorable. I know my son is very proud of his. He gave it to his teacher today and was so excited.

Thanks so much for the nicest little write up!

I love this! Unfortunately we don't have any grandmas in the family who would appreciate such a gift (which is why they get nothing!). :( But I'm going to bookmark this and maybe try to get G to make one for ME next year. :)

Hope you have a very Happy Mother's Day!

Yep, yet another saved under my favorites! Thanks! Did you need an embroidery hoop or anything special? I did go to the othe post, but didn't see the need for anything special.

And thank you for your encouragement with my silly little purse! Zippers are still scary, but I am encouraged and motivated!

What an awesome idea. Now if only my kids would draw something that was recognizable instead of scribbles. Sigh, someday.

I have to say that when I clicked on your blog, I laughed out loud at your header. Utterly darling. I have never seen snail costumes for kids, and these really made me smile.

Your post for a handmade Mother's Day brooch is super fun. I may just do this with my kids, even though the celebrating is over.

Oh, and this post would also be perfect for our We Heart Art carnival this week. I hope you'll consider linking up!

Hi Momma Snail! I want to present you with a "Sushi" blog award! Come pick it up at http://myfourmonkeysproductreviews.blogspot.com/2009/05/my-sushi-awards.html

Before you take my images, you'd better ask me first. I request that if, and when, you use my information and pictures, you provide proper credit and citation. A link back to my blog is nice, too. I love to give permission to really nice people. In fact, I have never said no. If you steal anything from my site, I get to be mean to you. Really mean. And I am smart enough to catch you being sneaky, too.
