Exploring with Self-Hardening Clay

After Big Snail asked what pottery was, I thought that this was a good opportunity for the Snails to play with some real clay (we make our own play-dough). We explored with it for about an hour and then I showed them how to make a pinch pot. Big Snail made two pinch pots with "Easter Eggs." Little Snail wanted to make some big eggs, so I helped her with that. We are going to paint everything when it drys and add the Easter Eggs to a bowl for our table.

We bought this same clay a while back! It was so HARD to get soft enough to use though. A friend came over with some clay from a local pottery studio that turned out to be cheaper and easier to use. Regardless, playing with this clay was so fun! Your bowls turned out so well- especially the unique versions!

Neat, thanks! Another thing to start a file on. Can you share one day how you get organized and plan your projects? Some days I think "Oh! We'll do 'this'" but then I don't have it all on hand. I am new at HSing and still trying to find our rhythm. We are going to start lapbooking soon, but I also love your hands on project ideas, especially for Lil Man.

Clay is {obviously} a favorite around our house! I am going to dig around here and find some more of your amazing ideas!

I'm going to bookmark all these wonderful crafts you're sharing so I can pull out some ideas when the kids want to do crafts!

Before you take my images, you'd better ask me first. I request that if, and when, you use my information and pictures, you provide proper credit and citation. A link back to my blog is nice, too. I love to give permission to really nice people. In fact, I have never said no. If you steal anything from my site, I get to be mean to you. Really mean. And I am smart enough to catch you being sneaky, too.
