Writing Environmental Print

Today, Big Snail copied environmental print onto the dry erase board. Copying environmental print is an integral part in teaching young children to read and write. When Big Snail and Little Snail were playing "Huddle House" during dramatic play, I suggested that they make a menu. Big Snail took some food out of the pantry and copied the words on to the board. They now have a menu for their "Huddle House." We then sang this song about environmental print.

We are going to cut out environmental print from around the house and keep it in a box for whenever the snails want to copy words.

We're just getting started homeschooling our 5 & 3 year old girls. Thank you so much for the great ideas! I look forward to learning more from you.

Before you take my images, you'd better ask me first. I request that if, and when, you use my information and pictures, you provide proper credit and citation. A link back to my blog is nice, too. I love to give permission to really nice people. In fact, I have never said no. If you steal anything from my site, I get to be mean to you. Really mean. And I am smart enough to catch you being sneaky, too.
