Living Math: Seriation

This afternoon I heard Little Snail (2.5) playing quietly. This is what I stumbled upon. She had seriated her dolls from smallest to largest. She couldn't explain what she had done, so Big Snail told her that she put them in order from littlest to biggest. I tell ya' she has been born with a mathematical mind. She can already meaningfully count up to 20 objects. She is starting to line things up...just a few minutes ago I found a row of plastic worms on the table.

Before you take my images, you'd better ask me first. I request that if, and when, you use my information and pictures, you provide proper credit and citation. A link back to my blog is nice, too. I love to give permission to really nice people. In fact, I have never said no. If you steal anything from my site, I get to be mean to you. Really mean. And I am smart enough to catch you being sneaky, too.
